Brain Injury Training Courses

1. ACRM Cognitive Rehabilitation Training - SECOND EDITION

TWO-DAY COURSE : 28 – 29 October (Time TBD)

Educational opportunities that promote evidence-based interventions for cognitive rehabilitation are needed by clinicians in order to provide optimum care for individuals with brain injury. ACRM Cognitive Rehabilitation Training provides such an opportunity by presenting evidence-based standards and guidelines for clinical practice and translating them into step-by-step procedures for use by clinicians.

The two-day workshop, led by authors of the new SECOND EDITION Manual, provides an extraordinary opportunity to learn evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation strategies from leading researchers and clinicians in the field.

The ACRM Cognitive Rehabilitation Training bridges the gap between research and clinical practice, translating evidence-based guidelines into step-by step procedures for clinicians. Training offers a comprehensive overview of cognitive rehabilitation process (treatment planning, goal setting, and progress monitoring), a foundation in basic neuroanatomy, and direct guidance and instruction on addressing impairments in attention, memory, executive functioning, social communication, and visuospatial and praxic functioning. General procedures and specific interventions for group-based treatment are also covered.

2. Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists Course (ACBIS)

TWO-DAY COURSE : 28 – 29 OCTOBER (Time TBD)

The Brain Injury Association of America offers a national certification program through its Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS). This two-day training is the official course designed to prepare participants to sit for the Certification Exam and join more than 7,000 Certified Brain Injury Specialists worldwide by applying for and passing a national examination. The course is also appropriate for paraprofessionals and professionals at all levels who simply want a strong foundation in the best practices in brain injury rehabilitation and/or CME/CEUs.

3. ACRM Pediatric Cognitive Rehabilitation Training

ONE-DAY COURSE : 30 OCTOBER (Time TBD)

Children with brain injury are not simply “little adults” with brain injury. Their clinical presentation, and the evidence-based methods to help them, are inextricably intertwined with brain development, and the need to understand how to help the educational system support them in their development and transition to adult life. This course is designed for all brain injury rehabilitation professionals and school professionals working with children age 0-25 who have acquired brain injury. Training will include evidence-based interventions for cognitive rehabilitation needed by clinicians/educators in order to provide optimum support for children, adolescents, and young adults who have sustained either traumatic or non-traumatic brain injury.
