Instructional Courses (ICs)
Pre-Conference Instructional Courses (ICs) are in-depth and specialized for those who want to dig deep into topics of special interest, develop specific skills and expertise, and earn the maximum number of continuing education credits available.
Many sessions are small, providing opportunities for greater interaction with the presenters and exchange with fellow attendees. These courses are also ideal for busy local professionals who just can’t get away to attend the full conference.
Certified Brain Injury Training:
The Official Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists
(ACBIS) Course // TWO DAY COURSE
The Brain Injury Association of America offers a national certification program through its Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS).This two-day training is the official course designed to prepare participants to sit for the Certification Exam and join more than 6,000 Certified Brain Injury Specialists worldwide. To obtain certification, candidates must complete the required work experience/training and pass an examination. The (optional) exam will be offered at the end of the course.
ACRM Cognitive Rehabilitation Training Course
TWO DAY COURSE
Based on the MANUAL & TEXTBOOK SECOND EDITION, this training offers a comprehensive overview of cognitive rehabilitation process (treatment planning, goal setting, and progress monitoring), a foundation in basic neuroanatomy, and direct guidance and instruction on addressing impairments in attention, memory, executive functioning, social communication, and visuospatial and praxic functioning. General procedures and specific interventions for group-based treatment are also covered.
The two-day workshop, led by some of the authors of the MANUAL, provides an extraordinary opportunity to learn evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation strategies from leading researchers and clinicians in the field.
ACRM Pediatric Cognitive Rehabilitation Training Course
Children with brain injury require support tailored to their development and transition to adulthood. Training focuses on evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation for clinicians and educators to aid children, adolescents, and young adults with brain injuries.
ACRM’s Pediatric Cognitive Rehabilitation Training Course provides step-by-step clinical guidelines for occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and school professionals, including practical advice for working with families and schools.
ACRM Early Career Development Course
The Early Career Development Course is a perennial favorite at ACRM that connects early career rehabilitation researchers with prominent and accomplished professionals. The course will provide opportunities to learn from experts in interdisciplinary team science, government agency representatives, and distinguished scientists who will provide insights through didactic presentations, panel discussions, small group discussions, and one-on-one networking.
ACRM Leadership Development Course
Know what you want to get accomplished, but not how to put it into a plan that will guide progress, gain buy-in, and secure resources? This workshop will give you practical tools and a flexible process to lead others through the planning process or develop a plan yourself. During this workshop, you will learn why and how to map stakeholders, do visioning, set measurable objectives, analyze opportunities and barriers, develop actionable initiatives, prioritize the work, and sell the plan to leadership for approval. We will use a case study to bring the concepts to life, and you will walk away with tools and templates that you can use for your own plans.
